The death of “Gangsta’s Paradise” rapper Coolio came as a complete surprise to people who had just seen him. A group of fans told now tmz.comthat they met the rapper at the Houston, Texas airport last Friday. There was no indication that she had any health problems.
TMZ spoke to a female fan who took a selfie video with Coolio at the chance meeting. “I don’t even have to say who this is,” she said in the video, which shows her side-by-side with Coolio. “Do you all see this legend? I got a photo with him and a video. You’re all jealous.”
The woman said she approached Coolio to take a picture. He was friendly and was happy to have photos taken with him. The rapper even invited her and her friends to his next concert and gave them places on the guest list. They would have exchanged numbers and text messages with Coolio. In the end, they didn’t go to the concert because it was an hour away from their Houston accommodation. Now they are devastated at missing his last performance.
Coolio, real name Artis Leon Ivey Jr., died on September 28, 2022 at the age of 59 from cardiac arrest. As it became known on Friday, Coolio had recorded dialogues and a song for the animated series “Futurama” shortly before his death. An episode is now to be dedicated to the rapper.
