On the menu were fish and shellfish such as sea bass, oysters and mussels. For dessert, guests were served a Japanese cheesecake with algae.

Possibly the seafood was not completely fresh or the chefs were in such a hurry to prepare that they were not fully cooked. The fact is that in the end 44 eaters got sick. The symptoms ranged from stomach flu to food poisoning, the Spanish newspaper reports El país.

Shine Iberia, producer of master chef, expresses regret in a statement, but emphasizes that this is the first incident in the more than eleven years that the program has been running. The Spanish government is launching an investigation into the causes of the incident.
