Last year, Drenthe gained 235 extra homes through the conversion of business premises. The vast majority of this came from the conversion of office buildings.
Research by Statistics Netherlands shows that around 9,500 so-called transformation homes were added nationwide as a result of the conversion of business premises. This is 10 percent of the total number of new homes in 2021.
With 75 converted houses, the municipality of Assen is the crown in Drenthe. This is an increase of 26.1 percent compared to the previous year.
The municipalities of Aa en Hunze and Westerveld converted zero buildings into homes in 2021.
