Conversion in Munich: Konen becomes Breuninger flagship

The Stuttgart fashion retailer Breuninger is planning to convert Konen in the coming year.

The fashion house is to become a flagship with a sales area of more than 12,500 square meters, Breuninger announced on Friday. As part of this realignment, the name of the store will also be changed from Konen to Breuninger in 2023. Work has already begun in the store, which is gradually being modernized.

“Munich is an important location for us, we feel very comfortable here. We want to inspire new customers for Breuninger and continue to offer a home to all those who have been loyal to Konen for years,” said Breuninger Managing Director Holger Blecker.

100 new jobs and catering concept

For the new store concept, Breuninger relies on warm colors and natural materials such as wood. In addition, a gastronomic concept is to be integrated to match the “relaxed atmosphere”.

This also requires plenty of new staff for the team of René Weise and Alexander Entov, who run the site as dual leaders. Up to 100 employees are needed for all areas – including sales staff for designer fashion and premium brands, as well as staff for ‘Special Service’ advice and for the beauty segment.

“The enthusiasm and passion for fashion, beauty and lifestyle as well as a high level of service orientation are the decisive personal qualities for us,” said Weise. “We want to be a good host and win new customers every day. For this we need the best employees and are looking for up to 100 new colleagues,” adds Entov.

In July of last year, Breuninger took over the Munich fashion retailer Konen Garment House GmbH & Co. KG – with locations in Munich and a branch in Bram in Luxembourg – and in September the management of the Munich store was reassigned. It is currently not known whether Bram, as the first international store of the Stuttgart fashion retailer, will undergo a similar change as Konen.
