Controversial nature restoration law narrowly survives first vote in the European Parliament’s environment committee

The Environment Committee of the European Parliament supports the controversial nature restoration law in a first vote. The 88 members were equally divided. After almost four hours of voting on adjustments, the session had to be stopped to make room for the plenary session. It will not be clear until June 27 whether the bill will pass. According to critics, the agricultural sector is being hit too hard by the measures in the European Commission’s proposal.
