The appeals court in Bucharest ruled that the requests for the release of the Tates were “unfounded”. Last Friday, the court decided that the two brothers will remain in jail until at least February 27.
Leaving court, the 36-year-old former kickboxer called on the press to “ask them for evidence, which they won’t give because there isn’t any”. US lawyer Tina Glandian spoke of “foreign pressure” at a press conference. There is no flight risk, the Tates lawyer also believes. “They have known since April that an investigation is ongoing and have nevertheless remained in Romania. They have ties to the country, and Tristan Tate is the father of a three-week-old baby he still hasn’t seen.”
The brothers were hiding near the Romanian capital Bucharest. Various luxury cars, watches and stacks of money in various currencies belonging to the former kickboxer were confiscated.
