For housing projects in the seventeen NOVEX large-scale housing locations, 25 municipalities receive a contribution from the area budget of 475 million euros. This allows municipalities to (partially) cover public shortfalls in area development.
Minister De Jonge (Public Housing and Spatial Planning) wrote this today in a letter to the House of Representatives. The amounts from the area budget are determined in the annual round of Administrative Consultations on the Environment (BOL) with provinces and regions.
Attractive residential areas
The area budgets have been reserved for the seventeen designated locations for large-scale housing. The contributions are for the design of attractive residential areas, for example through investments in greenery, squares, sustainability and the relocation of obstructive activities. The area budget, together with the 6 billion euros from the Mobility Fund, stimulates the construction of at least 240,000 homes.
Affordable housing
The government contribution is a maximum of 50 percent per approved project. Furthermore, at least half of the planned housing must fall within the affordable segment.
The NOVEX large-scale housing locations are part of the regional urbanization strategies from the National Environmental Vision (NOVI) and the new Spatial Planning Memorandum to be adopted.
