Contract extension until 2026: Mario Götze is committed to Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt set an example shortly before the cup final and announced the early extension of Mario Götze’s contract.

Eintracht Frankfurt has saved important news for the evening before the cup final: The Hessians announced on Friday that national player Mario Götze had extended his contract early until 2026. His previous working paper ran until 2025.

“Mario’s long-term commitment to Eintracht Frankfurt is important news – especially before the DFB Cup final,” said sporting director Markus Krösche. “He fits in perfectly with us personally and athletically and is becoming more and more one of the defining faces of Eintracht.” Götze came to Frankfurt from Eindhoven last summer. The cup final on Saturday will be his 46th competitive game of the current season. Krösche described him as a “cornerstone in our team”.

Götze: “I fell in love with the club”

The 30-year-old midfielder raved about his current employer in the club’s report. “From day one I feel very comfortable at Eintracht Frankfurt. I have taken the club and the city to my heart. I see myself here in the future and want to ensure clarity with my early contract extension,” Götze was quoted as saying.

He is still firmly convinced of the great potential of Eintracht. “The club has a clear plan and I identify with the goals. I’m looking forward to many more games for this club.” Frankfurt will definitely be in the European Cup next season. Participation in the Conference League is secured by the placement in the league, a victory in the cup final against Leipzig would mean the Europa League.
