Now it’s fixed: Daichi Kamada will not extend his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt and will leave Hessen free of charge in the summer. It is still unclear where the Japanese are going.
There has been speculation for months, now it’s fixed: Midfielder Daichi Kamada is leaving Eintracht Frankfurt after the season. The Japanese’s contract expires at the end of the season, and the 26-year-old will not extend his contract. The Hessians announced this on Wednesday.
“Daichi Kamada has developed into a very good Bundesliga player at Eintracht Frankfurt in recent years and has played his part in the sporting development of the club – with the highlight of the Europa League victory last year,” sports director Markus Krösche is quoted as saying. “We would have liked to have seen Daichi at Eintracht in the future, but the player’s interests did not go hand in hand. We thank him for his commitment to Eintracht and wish him all the best for the future.”
Two titles with Eintracht
Kamada joined Eintracht from Sagan Tosu in the summer of 2017 and was temporarily loaned out to Belgian top-flight club VV St. Truiden in the 2018/19 season. The Japanese national player made his breakthrough in Belgium, and after his return he also became a regular and top performer at Eintracht.
To date, Kamada has played 170 competitive games for Hessen, scoring 37 goals and providing 31 assists. In addition to 119 Bundesliga games (18 goals, 27 assists), the 26-year-old caused a stir, especially in international competitions, earning himself the nickname “Euro-Daichi”. Kamad has 38 European appearances with 14 goals and four assists. With Eintracht he won the DFB Cup in 2018 and the Europa League in 2022. Where the Japanese are going is still unknown. There have recently been rumors about Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid.
