‘Continue with Khalid & Sophie’

BNNVARA denies having polled the men of Today Inside for a switch to NPO 1, where they would then get the place of Khalid & Sophie. “VI does not suit us as a broadcaster.”

Johan Derksen said yesterday in the first episode of Today Inside since the candle exit that the public broadcaster has approached him. After the broadcast, René van der Gijp confirmed to both De Telegraaf and RTL Boulevard that BNNVARA would have polled them. What was the offer? Khalid & Sophie’s place.

BNNVARA denies

What nonsense, responds a spokesman for BNNVARA. “We are strongly committed to Khalid & Sophie, also for this autumn. The talk show is an important title for us in which we have great confidence and are satisfied with how the program is developing. VI does not suit us as a broadcaster.”

So, all in all, it appears that the VI men have been spreading fake news to create some media frenzy. It is true that broadcaster PowNed has shown interest in the gentlemen, but they are not about the time slot of Khalid & Sophie.

PowNed responds

What exactly is this? Broadcasting boss Dominique Weesie says to RTL Boulevard: “I saw the news about Khalid & Sophie everywhere, I laughed so much. We have had discussions with Derksen and Genee, but not yet about which programs that would be.”

Dominique has consulted with the NPO. “I did talk to them, I first informed the NPO, to ask whether it made sense at all. I had the green light to start talking. My offer stands. (…) If NPO had said: we do not want these types of people in our house, I would not have had those conversations.”

What does the NPO say?

What does the NPO have to say about this? “As NPO, we then emphasized in discussions with Powned that if it were to come to a further discussion with Derksen cs, then the gentlemen should realize that the public broadcaster is a different environment than the commercial broadcaster.”

“At public broadcasting, programs are made according to certain public values and any continuation of the program at Powned should also comply with this. The broadcaster said it agreed. It was no longer an issue after that.”

Tim den Besten critical

Tim den Besten could not believe that BNNVARA was really interested in the VI trio. “If this is true, BNNVARA has gone a bit crazy,” he says on Instagram.

Why? “That you will be replacing a talk show again after De Vooravond gate. That a public broadcaster wants to bring in a show at all after that show stopped for glorifying rape.”

The men of VI have not yet responded to BNNVARA’s denial.
