The Zoff between Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel and Tottenham manager Antonio Conte goes into the next round. After the two football teachers caused a real scandal on Sunday after the London derby, the Italian followed up on social media after the game.
Already during the heated London derby between Chelsea and Tottenham (2: 2), Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte’s emotions boiled over.
Conte in particular felt provoked by the German when he started a jubilant run on the sidelines after Reece James made it 2-1 (77th). In doing so, Tuchel sprinted just a few centimeters past his opponent with clenched fists.
Conte’s Instagram post
The Tottenham coach used this scene to follow up with Tuchel long after the game.
Conte posted a video clip of the sprinting Tuchel on his Instagram account. He wrote: “Luckily I didn’t see you. To make you stumble would have been well deserved.”
A small but fine tip against the Chelsea coach, whose dispute with the Italian made headlines on the island on Sunday.
Both coaches fought on the sidelines after the final whistle and saw red for it. The situation escalated when, during the obligatory handshake, Tuchel refused to let go of Conte’s hand and rudely stopped the Tottenham coach.
Tuchel and Conte comment on Zoff
“I thought that you look into each other’s eyes when we shake hands, but he had a different opinion,” said Tuchel, explaining his action after the game.
However, Conte “did not want to comment” on the scene. If there’s a problem with the German coach, “it’s between him and me,” stressed the impulsive Italian, “and nobody else.”
Emotions ran high throughout the game. While Conte particularly disliked Tuchel’s jubilant run, the German was bothered by the referee’s performance. In his eyes, fouls by Spurs were not punished before both Tottenham goals.
After the game, Tuchel spoke of “ridiculous decisions” by the referee.
