In a message on facebook Police Basic Team Boven IJ wrote on Friday that they received a ‘bizarre report’ on Tuesday morning. In a renovation house on the Mosveld in Amsterdam-Noord, a tube fell down on the head of a construction worker – who was not wearing a helmet at the time.

An object that resembled an explosive device slid out of the tube. The construction worker carefully pushed the object back into the tube, then placed it on the ground and called the police.

Because of the report, not only agents came to the scene, but also the Defense Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service. The area was cordoned off.

‘Not dangerous in this state’

The ‘object’ in the tube turned out to be a real anti-tank grenade. The grenade has been secured and taken. According to the EOD employee, the explosive was not dangerous in this state because the explosive was not equipped with a detonator.
