Tourists who want to spend the night at the new Hotel and Resort De Hondsrug in Gasselte will have to be patient. The construction of the holiday park along the N33 has been postponed until the autumn of 2023 and the doors are expected to open a year later.
Construction will take place later than what operator Dormio Resorts and Hotels initially hoped for. According to Dormio, this is mainly due to the uncertain situation in the world, due to the war in Ukraine, the still dormant coronavirus, increased interest rates and high construction prices,
The exact start date will be announced later and, according to commercial director Ben Suers, mainly depends on the sale of the holiday homes. So far, a buyer has been found for about five homes.
As soon as around 24 have been sold, the first shovel can go into the ground. “We are going to build the resort in two phases. First 35 homes and the hotel, then the other 35 holiday homes,” explains Suers.
