A horse that broke loose caused consternation during a football match in Eext on Sunday. The animal seemed to be walking onto the field. The game was stopped in the 45th minute. It concerned the match vv Eext 2 against Gieten 3.
The chairman of the VV Eext does not want to respond. In Eext itself, football players are sitting on a terrace while enjoying a few beers and chatting. ,,Nothing happened, only that horse came”, says one of them, who does not want to say his name. “We were quite shocked by that, because something similar happened a few years ago and it got out of hand. Fortunately, the owner of the horse was quick to act and the horse was taken away again.”
A video of the incident shows some pushing and shoving. But according to the football players, there was certainly no question of a fight. “It may be that because of the fright, people asked the owner in less friendly terms to leave with that horse.”
It is unclear how the horse got to the football field. The football field is located near a riding school where a competition was taking place. ,,But fortunately the horse was not part of that competition, it belonged to someone from the village”, say the football players.
Eext won the competition and is now one step closer to the championship.
