Darts star Gary Anderson is currently blossoming again on the PDC Tour. According to the two-time world champion, this is also due to the collaboration with colleague Ryan Searle.
The darts duo has been a training team for several months now. Searle “constantly dragged him out of the house at Christmas to play darts,” Anderson revealed, according to “dartsnews” in an interview with the Dutch newspaper “Het Nieuwsblad”.
Searle is ranked 14th in the world, ahead of Anderson in the ranking. The Scot now only ranks 22nd in the PDC Order of Merit. Anderson’s form curve has been pointing upwards again for several weeks.
The 52-year-old recently celebrated a tournament victory on the Pro Tour after a long time. At the Belgian Darts Open, Anderson recently made it into the quarterfinals.
Gary Anderson ‘enjoying’ darts again
“I’m enjoying playing darts again. In the last three years that hasn’t been the case at all. Then it becomes difficult to do something you don’t like (anymore). But I really enjoyed training with Ryan.” said the “Flying Scotsman”. Searle is “a great guy and also a great darts player”.
“He drives me and we just play darts every Monday and Wednesday night. Then we take 1.5 hours and throw 80-90 legs against each other. The next day I’m a little less happy because I hardly move but it’s worth it,” Anderson said of working with Heavy Metal.
Anderson achieved the greatest successes of his darts career in 2015 and 2016 when he was crowned champion at the World Championships in Alexandra Palace. In addition, the Scot triumphed in his long career in the Premier League and at the World Matchplay.
