Irish top cyclist Connor Lambert is dead, reports Cycling News.
Lambert died when he was only 25 years old. Lambert died in the middle of a practice run when he was hit by a truck in Belgium. He had traveled to Europe to help the Australian X-Speed junior team.
Lambert’s sister Tara said in a statement that the entire family is shocked by Lambert’s sudden death.
– He was a much loved and adored son, brother and uncle.
The death of Lambert, who has since settled in Australia, has shocked the tight-knit cycling community in Western Australia.
Competing in X-Speed in the same team as Lambert Sebastian Heldahl told According to ABC that he was shocked by the news.
– I am speechless, the Norwegian said.
– Cycling in Belgium can be really hard. It’s the toughest competition in the world. He was always cheerful and somehow managed to turn negative emotions into laughter and smiles.

The news of Lambert’s death also spread to the Tour de France.
– We lost a very good guy yesterday. My thoughts are with his family and the entire Western Australian cycling community. It’s a pretty small community, but it’s like a big family and I’m really shocked to hear this news, said Jai Hindley, currently competing in the Tour de France.
Hindley is currently third overall in the Tour de France. He posted a picture on social media of the two competing against each other in years gone by.
