The parliamentary opposition is already getting used to the idea that the debate on the State of the Nation will start on July 12, predictably at 12 noon, with the intervention of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez. Although the communication has not been formalized, and therefore the date is not official, members of the Executive have already slipped in private conversations with parliamentary spokesmen that the socialist leader’s agenda points to that day and time, five sources have reported many other groups.
July 12, Tuesday, is a date outside the ordinary period, since it ends on June 30. Therefore, an extraordinary session will have to be called. The Government’s idea for that week from the 11th to the 15th of next month does not only cover the debate on the State of the Nation, but more issues, such as the law of democratic memory. In the calculations of the Executive, a kind of “full broom” is contemplated that, after the debate and the voting of the resolution proposals that generate said debate, the deputies discuss and approve a series of opinions.
