Despite a predominantly convincing first half of the season so far, FC Bayern is planning some transfer activities in January. It is unclear whether Manchester United’s Casemiro is really part of the plans due to contradictory reports.
The Catalan online newspaper “El Nacional” recently reported on the German record champions’ alleged interest in the 31-year-old Brazilian.
It was said that coach Thomas Tuchel personally suggested Casemiro as a possible reinforcement in discussions with the management. A transfer fee of 50 million euros is in the room.
According to “Sky”, the personnel at FC Bayern are currently not hot. Bosses did not plan to make an offer for Casemiro in the winter, the report said.
The pay-TV broadcaster confirmed another report from “El Nacional”: Ronald Araújo from FC Barcelona has come into Munich’s sights.
The 24-year-old defender from Uruguay is considered a “machine” internally at FC Bayern, transfer expert Florian Plettenberg revealed, and Tuchel is enthusiastic about him. However, Barca wants to extend Araújo’s contract beyond 2026 – information that is said to have already reached Säbener Straße.
FC Bayern is looking for reinforcements
FC Bayern is looking at the winter transfer market, particularly at the six and at the defense center. A pure central defender should not come, but rather a professional who can also play on the right in the back four.
In addition to Araújo, other candidates have recently been traded, including Takehiro Tomiyasu (Arsenal FC) and Raphael Varane (Manchester United). Waldemar Anton from VfB Stuttgart is also said to be a topic in Munich recently because of his strong performances.
Tuchel repeatedly described the FC Bayern squad as too thin, even after the end of the transfer period in the summer. In the meantime, there were major bottlenecks, especially in the defensive area, due to numerous failures.
