Cyclists who want to take the Pont in Velsen-Noord next week on Wednesday 20 August must take into account delays.
A large yellow information board at the Pont states that the crossing between 6.30 am and 3 pm is not possible at all. The usual alternative – the route via the locks – is also closed due to the same event.
For commuters who go to work by bike daily, that is a problem. But the message on the board turns out to be incorrect.
Pont is sailing
According to the Sail Velsen website, De Pont is only quiet between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Outside those times the skipper can sail, provided that is safe. The municipality of Velsen confirms that this information is correct, but advises travelers to arrive early because the sailing times may differ. The only other remaining route is via the Velsertunnel. At least, if you can take the car.
