It was a walker who saw a body in the water near Nijverheidstraat this morning and notified the emergency services. Emergency services, police and a diving team from the Midwest fire zone arrived on the scene.
It was soon suspected that it was the missing Christiana De Witte, but certainty only came after the body was identified after noon. The woman had been missing since Friday, January 19. The body was found one and a half kilometers from the residential care center where the woman was staying.
