Confession from Melike Şahin! ‘I control the number of times my songs are listened to’

Musician Melike Şahin was the guest of the ‘Tonight with İbrahim Selim’ program broadcast on YouTube. Explaining the album that deeply affected him on his musical journey, Şahin admitted that he controls the listening numbers of his songs.

Melike Şahin, İbrahim Selin’s “Did you have a family that loved music? How did your journey evolve?” answered the question.

“I KNOW BY ME”

The 32-year-old singer said, “My father was very curious, but my mother was not very interested in music. My father used to listen to the painful songs one after the other while driving long distances in the car. There is an album that has deeply affected me, that is, my turning point in my musical journey. One day, my father bought Sezen Aksu’s album ‘Light Rises from the East’ and we listened to it over and over. I still know that album by heart. You know, now that I’m at this age, I’ve been doing this job for so many years, and I still find it to be an album full of wonderful things that I can’t believe when I listen to it. Frankly, on my father’s side, playing the instrument and singing were always things. By the way, my father’s name is İbrahim, and thanks to my father, he gave a lot of support in those years.”

“I LOOKED AFTER THE ALBUM FOR WEEKS”

Melike Şahin, “Have you checked the listening numbers of your songs every month and compared them with other musicians?” “Of course, especially if I’ve released a new song. I even looked for weeks after the album to see which song they liked the most. There is also a very strange situation; there is a different picture on Youtube and a completely different picture at the concert. My favorite among the listeners. Well, one breaks into another song, the other breaks into a very different piece. One says ‘Black Forest’ from there, the other says ‘Ignition Together’, ‘Customs’, and now there are those who say ‘I’ve Paid the Price’. I’m looking at it. I’m also stalking, frankly. It’s useful to see what’s going on in Turkey, what’s new,” he replied.
