Concrete producer Olthof from Sappemeer receives a subsidy of 2.5 million euros from the province of Groningen for the construction of new factory halls and innovation of the machinery.
Olthof is a supplier of concrete and building materials. The company is doubling its capacity due to strong demand from the housing market for ‘prefab’ concrete parts.
The total investment amounts to 12 million euros. Olthof creates 52 new jobs. Deputy IJsbrand Rijebol calls the expansion of Olthof a ‘wonderful development for the regional economy and local employment’. “I am also pleased that this company is strongly committed to sustainability.”
The company from Sappemeer will soon process 75,000 tons of stony waste. This includes ground granulated blast furnace slag from the metal industry and stone released during demolition work in the region. The Olthof is energy neutral due to the solar panels on the roofs of the halls.
