Concerts in Belgium and Spain in danger after the Corona case?

Metallica had to cancel their appearance on Wednesday (June 29) at the Swiss “Out in the Green” festival. The reason for this is a corona case in the band’s environment. The organizers of the festival quote the band as follows: “It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that we are unfortunately unable to perform in Frauenfeld because a member of the Metallica family tested positive for Covid despite the strictest hygiene measures. We are very sorry to disappoint those of you who wanted to come to the show.“”

The performance was the only one in Switzerland, which is why the band tried to find an alternative date for the canceled show. According to the band, the attempt failed because they couldn’t find a suitable place for it: “It was our firm intention to play a replacement show in Switzerland. Unfortunately, due to the lack of availability of the event location and overlapping dates, no alternative date could be found for this or next year”.

It is not yet clear whether a musician in the band has contracted Corona, or whether it is “only” a case of Corona in the broader Metallica team. Whether the band can perform as planned next Friday (01.07) at the Belgian “Rock Werchter” festival and on Sunday (03.07) in Spain at the “Bilbao Bizkaia Rock Day” is not yet certain.
