Fear of tailwind in Thialf leads to discussions at the highest level
Lord of the Rings – In the run-up to the important Olympic qualifying tournament that starts on Sunday in Thialf, there has been a lot of fuss about the conditions in the skating stadium in Heerenveen. Several drivers and coaches are concerned and have complained about a significant tailwind during their races, created by the many air vents along the track. Reportedly, summit consultations took place last week, during which the NOC*NSF management also asked Thialf’s leadership for clarification. This is reported by sources within the KNSB skating association.
