Concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere at a record high last year, UN warns: “Despite all warnings, reports and conferences”

The concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has risen to a new record high in 2022. An important point was even reached for carbon dioxide (CO2) last year: the concentration was 50 percent above pre-industrial levels for the first time, the UN World Meteorological Organization (WMO) reported on Wednesday in Geneva. Record levels were also reached last year for the greenhouse gases methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O).
