Computer junk from March 1 will be banned

From March 1, new restrictions on the disposal of six groups of waste come into effect in the Russian Federation. On this day they will start special requirements of the Ministry of Natural Resourcesprohibiting citizens from throwing household appliances and several categories of computer products into garbage containers.

How writes “Parliamentary newspaper”, the ban applies to the system blocks of computers and separately motherboards, as well as hard drives. Previously, Russians were banned from placing car tires, construction waste, saw cut trees and bushes, foliage, grass, chemicals, medical waste, light bulbs and batteries in containers.

At the same time, only in some regions there is an opportunity to get rid of “high-tech” waste. For example, in the Moscow region, the authorities have placed several “mega-buckets” to receive household appliances and other bulky waste. And in Moscow they are experimenting with the free removal of large or chemically hazardous waste upon request through the mos.ru website.

The fine for those citizens who violate the rules that come into force on March 1 will be from one thousand to two thousand rubles. For companies, such violations will cost 100 – 250 thousand – and even then, provided that this is the first such violation and it did not cause damage to people or the environment. Otherwise, the penalty will be even greater.

“Russian newspaper” leads Alexei Makrushin, deputy head of the Russian Ecological Operator (REO), who emphasizes the need to create special sites throughout Russia for collecting old electronics. Now, in most regions, organizations that would accept such waste for disposal simply do not exist.
