Complete household goods on the street: striking illegal dumping in Ostend

“It was local residents who reported illegal dumping in the Sint-Catharinapolderstraat, in the Westerkwartier district,” says the spokesperson for the Ostend Police.

Household goods on the street

“Someone had put the entire household goods – including chairs, a bed and refrigerator – of an apartment on the street. The passage on the footpath was also blocked. Both the owner of the goods, the tenant of the apartment, and the landlord are identified by the police.”

Fine up to 350 euros

Perhaps illegal dumping fits into a rental dispute. “The share of both parties in the incident is being investigated further, as well as the possible involvement of other persons. The neighborhood police will continue the investigation,” says the police.

The illegal dumper risks a GAS fine that can amount to a maximum of 350 euros. The city services have been informed and are responsible for the cleanup. The offender will also pay for the clean-up costs, the police say.
