The violinist Daniel Hope, who lives in Berlin, dedicates himself to the comprehensive repertoire of American music on his latest album “America”. From jazz and classical to Broadway songs and American folk music. The album will be released on February 4th, 2022, followed by the vinyl release on March 5th, 2022.
With “America” Hope embarks on a search for traces of the origins of American music. “We recognize that a piece comes from America as soon as we hear it,” says the violinist. “But what is it that makes music sound American?”
In search of an answer to this question, Hope plays works by composers as diverse as Leonard Bernstein, Sam Cooke, Aaron Copland, and Duke Ellington. The recordings were made together with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra in combination with vocals, piano, jazz trio, string and chamber orchestra and drums. Several guests can also be heard on the album, including German soul and R&B singer Joy Denalane, Brazilian pianist Sylvia Thereza and German jazz guitarist Joscho Stephan.
“A Change Is Gonna Come” – Daniel Hope and Joy Denalane:
For the vinyl release of “America” on March 5th, 2022, the album can be won three times on vinyl. Simply fill out the form and enter “Daniel Hope” as the solution term. The closing date for entries is April 24th, 2022. The legal process is excluded.
