Marry Me is a romantic comedy about fame, the perils of social media and love at second sight. Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson return to the screen together in the film adaptation of Bobby Crosby’s graphic novel, directed by Kat Coiro.
Apparently, famous pop singer Kat Valdez (Lopez) and newcomer Bastian (Maluma) have a happy relationship. They seem in love and have just made it to the top of the charts with their joint single “Marry Me”. In keeping with the song, the two now want to tie the knot at a concert together, in front of an audience of millions. But shortly before the wedding, the singer finds out that Valdez is having an affair.
Despite her broken heart, she goes on stage. During her performance, she accidentally sees math teacher Charlie Gilbert (Owen Wilson) in the crowd. Following an impulse, she brings him to her and the two marry on the spot. An unexpected love story follows. Because although the two are actually strangers and their everyday life could not be more different, they are slowly getting closer.
