Nearly 100 Dutch companies from start-ups to large companies, knowledge institutions and governments will participate in the event from February 26 to 29, 2024. Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain. Minister Micky Adriaansens (Economic Affairs and Climate) will visit the event on Monday, February 26. MWC is the largest global event in digital technologies and infrastructure. Companies present their products and services to international partners and investors.
The participating companies are gathered together at the fair NL Pavilion. Sixteen Dutch startups will also be jointly present at the event Four Years From Now (4FYN) where they present their latest innovations in the field of, for example, cyber security, eHealth, artificial intelligence, 6G, apps and cloud applications. It Mobile World Congress has been the largest trade fair in this field since 1987, with almost 100,000 visitors annually. More than 2,000 companies in total are present in Barcelona and make agreements about collaborations and investments there.
In addition to visits to Dutch companies in the pavilion, Minister Adriaansens also has discussions with various international companies, investors and other ministers responsible for the digital economy and infrastructure.
“The Netherlands currently still has a leading digital infrastructure. However, that is not a given given the rapid technological developments worldwide. Also from our recently published research State of the Digital Infrastructure it turns out that we need to invest extra in digitization of, for example, healthcare and the manufacturing industry. That is why I am also at the MWC where the latest developments come together. My goal is to put our tech companies and startups in a position to find knowledge, investments and partners and to grow internationally. This way we can remain a digital leader,” said the minister.
