Community service for dental assistant from Assen after attempted extortion

A 35-year-old dental assistant from Assen has been sentenced to 2 days in prison for attempting to extort her former boss. The woman served that sentence in pre-trial detention. Her then partner (37) from Assen was the instigator, according to the judge, and was sentenced to eighty hours of community service.

These sentences are equal to what the Public Prosecution Service (OM) demanded at the end of March. A prison sentence would have been more appropriate, were it not for the fact that the attempted fraud already happened in 2017. Too long ago to send both to jail. At the time, the woman worked for a dentist in Assen. She wanted to quit and was heavily pregnant.

Both tried to convince the dentist to sign an agreement that would give the woman a higher benefit. The woman was also in debt for three thousand euros to her then boss, and that too would be forgiven. The dentist did not agree. Immediately afterwards he was sent nude photos and videos of himself and a woman.

The images were made by a 28-year-old woman from Assen, who previously reported to the practice as a patient. The medic fell for her charms and ended up in bed with her. She recorded this. For her part and the defrauding of another three men, the OM demanded a community service of 80 hours and 180 days in prison, of which 162 days conditionally.

The judge is not convinced that the woman tried to blackmail the dentist with these images. It does appear to be so, says the judge. The woman acknowledged making these images, but the purpose of this is not clear. The woman also defrauded three more men in 2017 and 2018.

She entered into a relationship with them and persuaded them to transfer money to her. The court finds this, and also the illegal possession of weapons (pepper spray), proven. She was sentenced to 18 days in prison (equal to the pre-trial detention) and a community service order of 60 hours.
