Information for tenants and landlords is now available for municipalities and trade organizations in the Good Landlordship Act toolkit. The personalizable brochures, social media posts and posters are part of a national information campaign. Municipalities can also pay extra attention to their good landlord reporting center through the communication tools. As of January 1, 2024, all municipalities must have such a reporting point.
The Good Landlordship Act has been in force since July 1, 2023. This law provides more clarity for landlords about what is and is not allowed and better protection for tenants. Municipalities will also have more options to take action against rental abuses if necessary. The information campaign was developed on behalf of the Ministry of the Interior to make landlords and tenants more aware of the new rules. From February, information will appear on various channels that informs tenants and landlords about the law and encourages them to take action.
Minister De Jonge: “Most landlords are already doing well and most tenants are happy with their landlord. Yet not all landlords are aware of the new rules and not all tenants know what they are entitled to. This information campaign will help with that. Municipalities are also given the opportunity to put their reporting center in the spotlight. We rent well together!”
Reach your own target group
The resources from the toolkit can now be used by stakeholders, such as municipalities and industry organizations. They can personalize and use the resources to reach their own target group or supporters. The toolkit also contains tips for municipalities for communicating about the reporting point that all municipalities must have since January 1.
