SCHWERIN (dpa-AFX) – The Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry (PUA) of the state parliament on the climate foundation MV wants to interview the energy expert Claudia Kemfert from the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin; 10.00 a.m.) in Schwerin on Friday. The consultant Friedbert Pfluger (CDU; 11.30 a.m.) is also expected. Kemfert considered the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline superfluous early on, and Pfluger – who also chairs the supervisory board of the “Zukunft Gas” lobby association – had supported the project.
“We want to clarify what objective data, investigations and indications existed at the time that spoke for or against the construction of another pipeline through the Baltic Sea, what alternatives there would have been and how the decision then made to build another gas pipeline from Russia came about.” , said the committee chairman Sebastian Ehlers (CDU) on Thursday in Schwerin.
The climate foundation has been criticized since it was founded in 2021 for supporting the completion of the German-Russian pipeline./ssc/DP/zb
