There are miracles, but not again and again. Basel is history, Zurich is reality. But no bad, on the contrary. Well, the German team missed the final against Spain, but conquered the hearts of millions of people.

This epic fight outnumbered, the dramatic penalty shootout, the parades of Ann-Katrin Berger. All of this will be remembered for a long time. And although the German football women are now leaving the big stage, they should not be forgotten.
DFB women as a model – with sympathy and empathy
There are first signs from the regional associations that report an enormous rush to the women’s departments of the respective football clubs. Thousands run through the streets in the national team jerseys on which fire, Gwinn, Berger, Dallmann or Mining are now. And not just Musiala, Müller or newer.
What this team has achieved in Switzerland is of enormous importance for the sport in Germany. The mixture of sympathy and empathy, this feeling of being, the stopping of setbacks that were never accompanied (injuries, references, blocks), this passion to tear down for each other. All of this has a lot of role model.
A situation like now there has been many times
However, it is a situation that has been the case more often. 2011 before and during the World Cup in their own country. 2013 after winning the European Championship title. 2016 after Rio’s Olympic gold medal. 2022 after the lost European Championship final against England. Again and again Germany’s footballers hoped to take the next step in training conditions, stadiums, salaries, visibility in the media. But it is never possible. Three bad international matches, a mediocre tournament and it was over with the big hype. It was not until 2022 a big step forward.
What national coach Christian Wück, who has already been questioned again and his team has achieved, must be the basis for the next few years. Germany wants to carry out the European Championship 2029, there is no better application letter.
It takes more courage, women’s football advance
But the DFB, the league and the clubs must not let the flame that they have sparked with the appearances at this EM. It has to be invested in the infrastructure, in the salaries of the players, in short: in the attractiveness of the women’s football location Germany. England, France, Spain and now also Italy do it. Professionalization is progressing with great steps. Germany must not miss the train.
It takes more recognition, more talent promotion, more performance centers and more courage to further advance women’s football. Actually, everyone who is connected to this sport would have to clap their hands and say: “We can do it!” Because we can – and because we owe it to this team with everything that goes with it.
From the miracle of Basel, this epic victory over France, must not become a blue miracle that German women’s football experiences in a few months when the EM is history.
