Comment: A blatant PR stunt by Alexander Stubb

The presidential candidate’s movements did not go unnoticed at the Ruka World Cup, writes Santtu Silvennoinen from Kuusamo.

How many people who watched the Ruka World Cup on the spot or at the TV receiver noticed over the weekend that Olli Rehn and Harry Harkimo are in Kuusamo?

So.

Alexander Stubb was not without attention.

On Sunday morning, he jogged in the textiles of the Finnish national skiing team with Iivo Niskanen and Ristomatti Hakola and watched the competitions wearing a Ski Association beanie.

After the women’s 20 km race, the presidential candidate who handed out the awards came to the camera stand to tell the media workers how he had bought the gloves for Jessie Diggins. The American skier lost his other ski glove shortly before the end of the race and skied to the finish line with a cold right hand.

After the men’s mittel, Stubb had received a so-called track vest, which allowed him to ski on the competition track in Ruka. The running club was Hakola, who calls Stubb his friend.

Stubb and his background forces are skilled at marketing themselves, but the action in Koillismaa was blatant and a PR trick glued on top.

It reminded me of the man’s prime ministerial prank as a dart board in Duudson Park.

Tasteless, but fits the style.
