Ludger Beerbaum slips into his red jacket again and mounts a horse for Germany at the Nations Cup in Hickstead. This means that the four-time Olympic champion, national coach Otto Becker, is taking the short-term worries away.
After six years, Ludger Beerbaum will represent a German team again. The 58-year-old will be at the start of the Nations Cup in Great Britain together with Philipp Weishaupt.

“So shortly before the World Championships there was a small shortage of riders for the Nations Cup at the Longines Royal International Horse Show in Hickstead. I am happy to take part in the tournament because the place in Hickstead suits me and my horses,” commented the show jumper himself made his sudden comeback.
Ludger Beerbaum: “It’s not a resignation from resignation”
But his participation on the island is not more than a favour, he emphasized: “It’s not a big deal, it’s not a resignation. Of course I’m happy to be able to help the German team in this tournament.”
The last time Ludger Beerbaum contributed to the victory of the German team was six years ago in Barcelona with his horse Casello – it was the rider’s last Nations Cup to date and also the last trophy for Germany. A few months earlier, Beerbaum played a key role in Germany winning the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. After these successes, he actually ended his career in the German team.
In Hickstead, Ludger Beerbaum is now riding the gray mare Mila, who first won the Grand Prix in Doha this year and then the Grand Prix in Mexico.
