‘Comeback André Hazes jr. disappoints, few views’

Patty Brard has the feeling that André Hazes jr.’s musical comeback has not sparked much for the time being. She notices that his new single is not exactly a hit. “Very few views.”

André Hazes jr. has a new song that is in the news a lot, because the most important passage from ‘Deel Van Mij’ seems to be ‘borrowed’ one-on-one from a hit single by American singer Gavin DeGraw. Despite all that controversy, according to Patty Brard, the song is not played very often.

Few views

Patty herself thinks it’s a nice song, but, she says Show news: “It’s going pretty well, but it hasn’t gotten a lot of views on YouTube yet. It has been viewed 34 thousand times, but of course you can’t say much about it after a few days. He has 500,000 listeners per month on Spotify.”

She continues: “But if you see that Live, for example, has been viewed 56 million times on YouTube and this has risen 34 thousand times in the last few days. Yes… Live has been on it for seven years, so it is actually comparing apples and oranges, but…”

Not exploded

Presenter Airen Mylene adds: “It’s not like: it exploded completely, so many million times.”

Patty: “Alarm disk, this and that. No, it’s not yet.”

The lyricist Edwin van Hoevelaak, left by André, is also given the floor. He finds it ‘a bit strange’ that André suddenly no longer makes folk music. “He has already stated it a few times: look at me, I am not a folk singer at all. So that’s amazing, because you’ve always sung folk music.”

No More Live

It’s strange if André suddenly doesn’t do that at all anymore, says Edwin. “That is something that has made you known to the Dutch public and that has given you a lot of fans who really like your music. They expect you to do that.”

Why André doesn’t want to sing songs like Live anymore? He told Beau last week: “I thought: I think I’m doing a bit of old-timers music and that doesn’t quite suit me. Then I met a few new guests and I sat down with them. I said, guys, you know what it is, I’m a folk singer, but I really want to be a pop singer and I want to make cool music.”

‘Doesn’t suit me’

Live is by far André’s greatest musical success to date, but that song no longer makes him very happy. “That is also a number that does not suit me at all. That’s not who I am.”

It is not quite finished with the life song, he concludes. “Of course I still do Holland Zingt Hazes every year.”
