Willem-Alexander is our first monarch since the Second World War that is confronted with a war in Europe that may also reach the Netherlands. It is not inconceivable that he will ever address the nation with the announcement that the Netherlands is at war. Let’s hope this will not be a reality. But even in times of instability, he should pay attention if he speaks out about conflict situations. Politically colored statements do not fit him.
