The US outdoor outfitter Columbia Sportswear Company has brought in additional industry expertise.
On Wednesday, the company announced the appointment of Charles Denson to the board of directors. The experienced manager is now also a member of the board’s audit committee, according to a statement.
Over the course of his long career, Denson spent a total of 34 years at the US sporting goods giant Nike Inc. There, among other things, he was responsible for the main brand Nike for 13 years before resigning from this position in 2014.
After leaving Nike, Denson moved to the consulting firm Anini Vista Advisors, which he leads as CEO. He also became a member of the boards of various companies. He is currently, among other things, chairman of the toy provider Funko Inc.
Tim Boyle, Chairman, President and CEO of Columbia Sportswear, said he was pleased to have the “industry veteran” join the group: “He will bring valuable product and marketing experience to the Board of Directors,” Boyle said in a statement
