Colruyt and Mondelez reach agreement after price dispute | Economy

Department store chain Colruyt and the American food giant Mondelez have reached an agreement in last month’s price conflict, Colruyt announced on Tuesday. In the following days and weeks, Mondelez products, such as the Lu, Milka, Côte d’Or, Stimorol and Philadelphia brands, will be back on the shelves at Colruyt and Okay.

In the middle of last month it became known that Colruyt was involved in a price conflict with Mondelez. According to the Belgian department store chain, the latter wanted to implement “substantial” price increases on its products, although both parties concluded an agreement last year for the whole of 2023. Mondelez in turn referred to “unprecedented market conditions” that made it want to implement a number of “selective price increases”. The result of the conflict was that Mondelez products were not available at Colruyt for weeks.

So now there is an agreement and the customer will be able to buy the brands again. “The talks took place in a constructive atmosphere and today we can report that an agreement has been reached and that Mondelez products will be returned. Details about the agreement will not be released,” says Colruyt.

The company is satisfied and reiterates that its number one priority remains “protecting customers’ wallets”.
