The Berlin label #Damur’s fashion show got ‘lively’ because it relied on a special location where the models became dancing sailors.
At the art performance – during Berlin Fashion Week – entitled ‘Anti-Basic Basic Club’, the models danced on the roofs of two boats, while the visitors – with a view of the main train station – lounged in deck chairs on the shore of the beach bar Capital Beach sat. However, the concept, which was varied and adventurous in idea, lacked implementation in some respects. The performance of the models was asynchronous for the visitors: inside, because the music played on the boats was different than on land.
Due to the deconstructed nature of the show, all looks were shown simultaneously, there was no show opener or announcement, so viewers sat a little unsteadily on the banks of the Spree and the outfits didn’t get the attention they deserved.
Because with its bright color palette, #Damur’s SS24 collection was a colorful contrast to the glass facade of the main station. Monochrome looks in eye-catching colors were on display, such as a two-piece suit in turquoise or suits in dark green and pink.
Damur, the designer of the label of the same name, said in the FashionUnited interview the target group of the brand is young and “follows fashion and trends”. This trend awareness is also reflected in the designs: suits, checks and showing skin are three essential trends for the spring/summer season 2024, which also characterize the looks of the Berlin brand.
The check suits were brought to life with numerous symmetrical cut-outs on the arms and legs. The designs also played with different layers: a gathered mini skirt and shorts were styled with a ruffled overskirt. Matching were the tops that showed a lot of skin.
The label pursues an upcycling business model and uses deadstock fabrics. All garments are manufactured under ethical working conditions in Europe.
