Colorful fountain should make Ypres Leet even more attractive
For example, on St Patrick’s Day the 45 jets of water can be illuminated with green light, and on LGBTQ Day with all the colors of the rainbow.
The set-up now has to run for 14 days so that they can adjust everything properly afterwards. This fountain cost about 250,000 euros. Ives Goudeseune, alderman of Public Domain Ypres: ‘This fountain only works on rainwater, there is no tap connection with city water. That is also one of the reasons that we are now testing, how much evaporation is there, when we need to supplement. It should be one of the nicest places in the city center.”
The fountain is part of the major works on De Leet. Local businesses are also satisfied with it.
