Colombian Buitrago wins first stage in Tour of Burgos
Santiago Buitrago has won the first stage in the Tour of Burgos. The Colombian cyclist from Bahrain Victorious broke away from the peloton in the climb, 600 meters from the finish line in Burgos.
EF Education-Easypost’s Portuguese Ruben Guerreiro finished 3 seconds behind in second, just ahead of Britain’s Tao Geoghegan Hart of Ineos Grenadiers. Wilco Kelderman (Bora-hansgrohe) was the best Dutchman in sixth place.
The Tour of Burgos, a preparatory race for the Tour of Spain, lasts until Saturday. Last year the overall victory went to Spaniard Mikel Landa.
