Cologne and Düsseldorf in the hockey final

The men’s hockey team from defending champion Rot-Weiss Köln against the Hamburger Polo Club and the women’s teams from Mannheimer HC and Düsseldorfer HC are in the finals of the German championship in Bonn on Sunday.

Cologne had won the first semi-final against HTHC Hamburg 3-1 (0-1). The Hamburger Polo Club then prevailed 3-0 (0-0) against Mannheimer HC. For the women, the MHC again came to a 5:1 (3:0) against the HTHC. In the final game, defending champion DHC defeated the club on the Alster 6:5 (2:2/2:0) after a penalty shootout.

The favorites from Cologne were 1-0 down until the end of the third quarter, but then scored three goals within seven minutes and thus secured progress. In the second semi-final between the MHC and finals newcomer Polo it was 0-0 up to the 45th minute. Then the Hamburgers made their first place in the final clear with three goals up to the 53rd minute.

While the MHC women were on course for the final against the HTHC after the first half, the second duel was far more exciting. Alster caught up from a 0:2 deficit, but missed a short corner eight seconds before the end and thus the victory.
