Collin Koops continues to fight against acute leukemia: ‘He is doing well’

The news could not have been worse for the Koops family from Barger-Compascuum in March. His son Collin was diagnosed with acute leukemia. Reason for his parents Marco and Silvia to fully focus on the treatment of their son. Father Marco Koops is full of hope. “Things are going in the right direction with Collin.”

In March, Collin was hospitalized. To enable his parents to stay close to the UMCG, a crowdfunding campaign was launched. Within a short period of time, an amount of 15,000 euros was collected, which enabled Marco and Silvia to continuously assist Collin over the past six months.

It is not the first time that the Koops family has been confronted with an illness. Joëlle, Collin’s sister, succumbed to a brain tumor in 2015. Parents Marco and Silvia, who set up a foundation in memory of their daughter (see box below), feared that the film from then would be replayed before their eyes.
