Collection campaign in Avelgem for Ukraine

The war in Ukraine creates a lot of solidarity in our province. The Ukrainian Nina Hordieieva is also taking action.

Sleepless nights

Nina has been living in West Flanders for four years now, but her family is still in Kiev.

“I don’t sleep anymore. Every hour I wake up to contact my family in Ukraine or to read the news. I have to take medication to get some sleep. I feel powerless,” she says.

To help as much as possible, Nina is setting up a collection campaign. “We mainly need medication and wound care,” says Nina. “Equipment for First Aid is now extremely important, but of course also clothing, blankets and sleeping bags. Now people just sleep on the floor in a subway station.”
