Employees of KAW Architecten are very concerned about their 25-year-old colleague Thomas, who has been missing since Friday night. “Everyone who lives in the area helps with the search,” says board member Wietske Schrober.
“We, like his family and friends, are very concerned about Thomas,” says Schrober. Since she went missing, a major search has been launched for her colleague who works as an advisor and researcher at KAW.
Thomas’ colleagues visit house by house
For example, on the night from Saturday to Sunday Search And Rescue helicopter (SAR) deployed to Thomas and police sniffer dogs also searched for him. So far there is no trace of him. Thomas left on Saturday December 16 at 00:30 from the Kattenhage in the city of Groningen, where the architect’s office is located.
“We are looking for him with several colleagues in the city,” says Schrober. According to her, everyone who lives in the area is at the office on Sunday and helps out. “We check all the logical routes he could have taken and check every home, every house or building to see if there are door cameras. We map these cameras manually and provide the collected information to the police. He can then read the cameras.”
Office also open for concerned family and friends
Schrober has no idea what might have happened. “Our office opened today. We do this to accommodate Thomas’s family and friends who, like us, are very concerned.”
The police report that Thomas went missing on his way home to Eerste Hunzestraat. His normal walking or cycling route leads along the Turfsingel. It is therefore feared that the KAW employee may have ended up in the water of the Diepenring. He was last seen in the Kattenhage.
The police may use the SAR vane again on Sunday to find Thomas. Last evening and night, the helicopter was in the air for fifteen minutes above the Van Starkenborgh Canal and the Oosterhamrikkade, where the canal of the same name is located. “We have expanded the search area,” said a police spokeswoman.
The police are also still investigating the area and ask residents to share camera images of, for example, their doorbell.
