AD opinion diva Angela de Jong sat at Eva Jinek’s talk show table on Friday evening just after the publication of the Volkskrant article about the abuses at NOS Sport. It was extensively about the main character of that article: Tom Egbers, who has more or less been bombed into the bully of the sports department of the broadcaster.

Poor Tom?!

Angela concluded at the table that Tom can absolutely no longer be on television for the time being. He came to that conclusion himself two days later. And his wife Janke Dekker has resigned as chairman of Mores, the reporting center for misconduct in the media. Until recently they were a respected marriage couple, but little of that is left.

For that reason, Angela showed a sign of sympathy in the talk show, but that earned her a mild reprimand from her right hand at the AD: Marcus den Blanken. He texted: “One thing you said last night at Jinek about the revelations about NOS Sport, I thought was strange. You said ‘poor Tom and poor Janke’, while I was thinking: ‘poor victim’.”

‘He is right’

In retrospect, Angela understands that a bit. “He is right. Of course he’s right,” she replies AD columnpointing out that her sympathy should mainly go out to the victims of the toxic work culture at NOS Sport.

However, the feeling of pity does not leave her either. “The image of that nice blonde sports presenter who has been so happy with his acting wife for years has vanished in one fell swoop.”

Bulky waste

Angela expects that there will be no follow-up to programs such as Toms England. “The umpteenth career with bulky waste, because come on top of this.”

What does she think of people who say that the judge has not yet ruled? “That is a kular argument. Whether it’s illegal or not is irrelevant. This is morally reprehensible behavior.”

‘Understand better now’

Marcus now has more understanding for the statements of his famous colleague. “I was surprised on Saturday about a comment from Angela at Jinek and sent an app. This column followed and I now understand better what she meant,” he tweeted.
