Colin McRaen the 2001 Ford Focus WRC was auctioned off last weekend at the Silverstone Motorway in the UK.

Focus, which won the Akropolis Rally this season of the rally legend, won a new owner for £ 423,000, or around € 508,000.

The story continues after the immersion.

McRae is one of the greatest rally legends of all time. The shabby Scot conquered the hearts of millions of friends of the species with a wild and fearless ride.

“If in doubt, flat out” –the utterance became a trademark of McRae. In return for the 25 race wins and the 1995 World Championship, the rally, if any, ended in an outage.

McRae died in 2007 when a helicopter under his control crashed and was destroyed. McRae’s five-year-old son Johnny, his six-year-old friend and Colin McRae’s family friend also died in the accident.

A years-long accident investigation revealed that McRae did not have a valid permit to fly. In addition, he flew too low and too fast for the conditions.

The Focus, now auctioned, is a rare individual as it remained intact in McRae’s handling. The championship battle for the 2001 season ended in a fierce knockout for McRaelle in the final race of the season in Wales.

Richard Burns kept his Subaru on the road and became world champion by two points.
