The rumors have come true: According to HBO Max, Colin Farrell will become the new character in the announced spin-off series Batman-Movie play the main role of the penguin. The series will be titled “The Penguin” and aims to provide insight into the villain’s life story and rise to fame in Gotham City. The format is produced by “The Batman” director Matt Reeves, film producer Dylan Clark and Farrell himself, among others.

Reeves said of Farrell in a statement: “Colin is as a penguin in ‘The Batman’ explodes, and the chance to explore the inner workings of this character on HBO Max is an absolute thrill. Dylan and I are very excited to work with Lauren to continue the story of Oz’s violent takeover of power in Gotham.”

Colin Farrell: “It will be good to bring him back to the streets of Gotham to cause some madness and mayhem”

Farrell, who has become almost unrecognizable after his transformation into the Penguin villain, also seems confident about his role: “The world that Matt Reeves created for ‘The Batman’ is one that takes a deeper look through the eyes justified by Oswald Cobblepot. I couldn’t be more excited to continue exploring Oz as he rises through the dark ranks to become the Penguin. It will be good to bring him back to the streets of Gotham to cause some madness and mayhem.”

“The Batman” has been in German cinemas since March 3rd.
